Article Type: FAQ Audience: All Users Module: FAQ

Fuuz backs up all customer data on the Fuuz Platform. This article describes the backup policy, the backup service, its configuration, monitoring and reporting, security, and compliance.

Backup Policy

The Fuuz Platform takes daily snapshots of customer data, and retains daily data for 1 week (on a rolling basis).

The Fuuz Platform also takes weekly snapshots of customer data, and retains weekly data for 8 weeks (on a rolling basis).

This policy ensures the Fuuz Platform has a recent backup of all customer data to protect against disasters or data loss.

Backup Service

The Fuuz Platform uses AWS Backup by Amazon Web Services (AWS) to save all customer data. It uses volume snapshots internally to create backups. AWS Backup centralizes and automates data protection using a suite of encryption, replication, and retention features. It preserves data from a variety of AWS services, including Amazon DynamoDB, Amazon EBS, Amazon RDS, and Amazon S3. As a fully managed service, AWS manages its own infrastructure and software.

  • The Fuuz Platform creates a backup vault to store backup data.
  • The Fuuz Platform defines the backup plan, including the schedule and the retention policy.
  • The Fuuz Platform attaches the backup plan to its AWS resources.

Service Configuration

The service configuration is standardized and committed to the Fuuz Platform's source repository. There is no need to back up the service configuration.

Monitoring and Reporting

The Fuuz Platform uses the AWS Backup console to monitor and report on all backups, their statuses, and their retention policies.

The Fuuz Platform uses the AWS Backup API to programmatically access backup data.

Security

The Fuuz Platform uses the AWS Backup encryption, authentication, and authorization security features to protect customer data.

  • The Fuuz Platform encrypts the backups at rest and in transit.
  • AWS Backup uses role-based access control (RBAC) to limit access to the backup data.

Compliance

The Fuuz Platform uses AWS Backup to comply with industry standards including HIPAA, PCI DSS, and SOC 2.
